Walk-a-Payung 2009 (WAP 2009), which will be organised this year by Persatuan SLE Malaysia (PSLEM)’s recently formed Kuching Chapter, is a 4-km walkathon with umbrellas starting from the Amphitheatre in Jalan Budaya, Kuching, Sarawak on Sunday, 13 December at 8:00 a.m.

The objective of WAP 2009 is to raise awareness of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) as a disease where the body’s immune system turns against its own healthy tissues. Using the umbrella to walk is to create awareness that people with SLE have to avoid the sun.

Just donate RM20.00 to the work of the Kuching Chapter and get a WAP 2009 t-shirt. Wear your WAP 2009 t-shirt to the Amphitheatre on 13 December to collect your free WAP 2009 umbrella and cap and walk. The collection and registration counters open at 7:00 a.m. on 13 December. Free breakfast and drinks will be provided after the walkathon.
